Mark Michaels

The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is proud to announce the appointment of Mark Michaels as the Administrator of the Spokane Veterans Home.  Mark assumed responsibility of the Veterans Home on June 14.  Mark completed his Administrator in Training in 2004 and maintains an active Certified Nursing Assistant license.

Mark’s professional background in healthcare spans 30 years, including facility and regional capacities. Mark worked in western Washington as a skilled nursing home administrator for the last seven years and recently moved back to the area.

"We are thrilled that Mark has chosen to join our WDVA team and support our mission of giving our honored veterans at the Spokane Veterans Home the highest quality of care," said WDVA Director David Puente. “We anticipate many positive contributions under Mark’s leadership because of his strong commitment to this Home, our residents, and the staff who look after them.”

"I want to lead my team to make a positive difference in our veterans' lives daily. They do not exist because of us. We exist because of them," said Spokane Veterans Home Administrator Mark Michaels. “Promoting teamwork, transparency, and doing the right thing every day are our goals.” “We should strive to lift each other up and challenge each other daily to provide quality care and work together to achieve our goals. I value our veterans and their sacrifices and want to ensure their stay with us reflects our appreciation for those sacrifices."

Mark is a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest and enjoys pending time with his family, reading, walking, skiing, biking and gardening.
