FINAL HONORS RIDE TO TAHOMA NATIONAL CEMETERY
SATURDAY, Dec. 10, 2016
Please join us in honoring James and Irene Powers as we transport them to TNC for Final Honors. James Powers is a Civil War Veteran. He served with the 12 Michigan Infantry Regiment as a Medical Assistant through the end of the War.
The ride starts from Lawless Harley Davidson, 3715 E. Valley Rd. Renton, WA. Kick Stands Up (Departure Time) 11:00 AM for TNC. Ceremony begins at 12:00 PM.
Special thanks to Lake View Cemetery, Seattle, WA, for their help in recovering these remains. M/M Powers were discovered, left unclaimed by family (since at least 1928) by M/M Jim Dimond of the "Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War". SUVCW is the successor to the "Grand Army of the Republic", which was made up of Civil War Veterans. M/M Dimond performed all the research to identify the Powers.
To the best of my knowledge, this is the first Civil War Veteran to be interred at TNC. MIAP is researching a potential Confederate Veteran, unclaimed at the same Funeral Home, but this case is far from complete.
Let’s brave the weather and give this hero and his wife a proper send off.
