Jack Ringel, LICSW

Jack is an educator and consultant, but is first and foremost an individual and group psychotherapist.  He views psychotherapy as an evolving craft of great depth and possibility, and as a practice that is clearly both an art and a science.  His work history is diverse, including working in a hospital setting at the VA Puget Sound, community mental health in the Edgewood neighborhood of Chicago, various positions in non-profits serving vulnerable and disenfranchised groups, and currently running a solo private practice in Seattle that also contracts with the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs.  An area of special interest for Jack is working with clients/patients with complex trauma histories, including how to nurture deep and sustainable change that goes beyond short-term symptom reduction.  His practice is diverse, both in terms of clinical presentations and demographics, including serving many veterans of multiple eras over the years. 

Jack received his Master’s Degree in clinical social work from the University Of Chicago, and took part in a full-time post-graduate fellowship through the VA Puget Sound.  He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in philosophy and sociology from the University Of Colorado.  Currently, he is a full analytic candidate at the Northwest Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (NPSI), which is a deeply immersive and multi-year training experience for fully licensed clinicians.  He previously served on the board for the Puget Sound Group Psychotherapy Network (PSGPN), and provides trainings in a variety of both clinical and non-clinical settings.
