Keith Meyer, MS, LMHC; Trainer and PTG Advisory Committee Member

Keith Meyer, M.S., LMHC, has been a counselor for over 28 years, 15 of those years working with veterans and their families. Within his practice, he emphasizes serving people who have experienced trauma event(s), assists them in understanding how those experiences affect their lives, and how trauma can provide an opportunity for Posttraumatic Growth.  He has worked with veterans (and their family members) who served in the military from World War II through the current conflicts, and with individuals who experienced or witnessed trauma from combat, sexual assault, attempted murder, natural disasters, domestic violence, and terrorism.  He has had contracts with the Federal VA, the Federal Veterans Center, and the Washington State Department of Veteran Affairs.

Keith is committed to community service and serves on the Advisory Board for the Lacey Veterans Service Hub, where he volunteers his expertise in the areas of posttraumatic stress and posttraumatic growth and provides a free support group to family members of veterans. Keith was also instrumental in forming the Veterans Mental Health Court by providing consultation to the judge, prosecuting attorney, and Director of Mental Health Court. He provided individual counseling to the many of the first Mental Health Court participants, who all graduated from the program and have not had any additional legal issues.

Keith provides training on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Trauma, and Posttraumatic Growth to colleges, government agencies, mental health providers, medical health providers, and nonprofit agencies. In addition, he provides consultation on trauma issues to a variety of agencies, organizations, mental health providers, and medical health providers.
