Washington State Patriotic Day is for you, your family and your friends. Patriotic hero, President John F. Kennedy in his inaugural address called out "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Come to Washington State Patriotic Day to reflect on your love and loyal or zealous support for the United States of America. Bring children to learn patriotism.

Washington State Patriotic Day at a Glance…

This is the FIRST Washington State Patriotic Day carrying on the annual President George Washington Birthday tradition.

MASSING OF THE COLORS is the assembly of AMERICAN FLAGS, our Country's most prominent patriotic symbol, as the CENTER PIECE of this patriotic event. All patriotic organizations such as

veteran, civic, fraternal, churches, school, scout and military that honor the American Flag are invited and encouraged to participate. Please include organizational flags for a two person unit. When there is no organizational flag, participate with only the American Flag carried on a staff for a one person unit. Adjustments can be made for young children and for special needs. PATRIOTIC INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC provided by the I Corps Army band will create the basic atmosphere of this celebration. This world-class Band creates a bond between the United States Army and the Washington State community.

COME EARLY TO BE SEATED WHEN THE BAND MUSIC BEGINS AT 2 PM AND FLAG UNITS BEGIN THEIR MARCH TO ASSEMBLE.

SPECTATOR SEATING is in the stands located on both sides of the gymnasium floor. Special needs gymnasium floor seating may be requested from ushers at the gymnasium entrance door. Gymnasium floor special needs seating is limited.

MONETARY REWARDS FOR BEST SPECTATOR ATTENDANCE

1st $500 2nd $250 3rd $100

All ORGANIZATIONS with their 1 or 2 person flag unit participating in MASSING OF THE COLORS will automatically be included in ATTENDANCE COMPETITION.

RULES FOR ORGANIZATION ATTENDANCE REWARDS "MASSING OF THE COLORS organizations participate in ORGANIZATIONAL CATEGORIES defined below for ORGANIZAIONAL ATTENDANCE REWARDS based on the number of supporters (organization members, family, friends, etc., to include children) that record their attendance by voting. Each will be allowed to vote upon arrival in the Gymnasium hallway leading to the spectator seating area. Ballot distribution will stop at 2:00 PM when the Band starts playing. Ballots must be deposited in boxes located in the Gymnasium hallway not later than 2:15 PM.

ORGANIZATION CATEGORIES 1. Youth organizations with more that 50% of members in grades below high school. 2. Youth and young adult organizations with members in high school and higher. 3. Primarily adult organizations to include church, veteran service, Active/National Guard/Reserves and the community. All three monetary rewards will be given in each category.

GENERAL 1. Must have a flag unit participating in the Massing of the Colors segment. 2. Must have a minimum of 50 attending and voting by 2:15PM to be considered. 3. All persons born count for attendance and may vote. 4. Adults may vote for children.
