General Description

This position will work on a 4-6 person field crew under the supervision of the Snohomish Conservation District’s (SCD) Community Conservation Team. This position will work with landowners on stormwater resource concerns within urban and residential areas of Snohomish County and Camano Island, and occasionally in other parts of the Puget Sound region.  The principal field duty for this position is constructing rain gardens. Other tasks include building rain barrels and habitat restoration projects including planting native species and removing invasive non-native species. Internship includes a stipend of $1,600/month, based on a 4 day 40 hour work week to cover living expenses.

 

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

This position requires the applicant to be a United States military veteran. Minimum qualifications are not established for this position; however applicants with the following skills, knowledge, and abilities will be given preference.

 

Must possess or obtain a valid driver’s license.

Ability to work on a crew of 4-6 to perform time-sensitive construction projects on private and public property.

Consistently perform hard labor in outdoor conditions.

Apply appropriate safety practices in the field.

Use hand tools and operate small power tools.

Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Able to take direction and work as a member of a team.

Motivated and enthusiastic.

Travel to various locations throughout Snohomish County.

Ability to work with others in a public environment.

Comfortable speaking to landowners and other members of thepublic about projects
