Join Clallam County in Honoring Our Heroes This Veterans Day – November 11, 2025
Port Angeles, WA – The Clallam County Veterans Association (CCVA) invites the community to come together in gratitude and remembrance at the Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Port Angeles High School Auditorium.
A statement from the U.S. Coast Guard District Public Affairs Office reads:
“Due to the lapse of appropriations for the federal government, the Coast Guard is unable to host community relations events, including the Veterans Day event at Air Station Port Angeles.”
The Clallam County Veterans Association (CCVA) has coordinated this alternate community ceremony to ensure local veterans are honored as planned.
The program will feature inspiring music by the Port Angeles High School Band and Choir. The Port Angeles High School JROTC will present the colors. Musical performances by the Grand Olympic Chorus and Juan de Fuca Harmony will continue throughout the ceremony. Guests will be welcomed by the Port Angeles Flag Line Post 29, proudly displaying American flags. The Mount Olympus Detachment, Marine Corps League #897, will present a rifle salute, and bagpiper Rich McKenzie, USCG (Ret.), will perform Amazing Grace.
This year’s Guest Speaker is Captain (Ret.) Mike Hakanson, U.S. Navy Chaplain Corps, who served nearly 30 years across Navy, Marine, and joint commands worldwide, including deployments to Iraq and Okinawa. A decorated officer and theologian, Captain Hakanson now resides in Port Angeles with his wife, Janine, a retired Department of Defense civilian.
Following the ceremony, refreshments will be served by the Michael Trebert Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
Parking: General parking will be available in all Port Angeles High School lots. There are two handicapped entrances: one from the grass on the east side of the building and one with a ramp from the walkway heading to the lobby on the west side of the performing Arts Auditorium.
This free community event is open to everyone—families, students, and all who wish to honor the men and women who have served and continue to defend our nation.
To all veterans: Thank you for your service. We look forward to honoring you on this special day.
Come, show your support, and help celebrate the enduring spirit of service that unites us all.
