The project is made possible thanks to contributions from the Spokane Civic Benefit Fund along with county and state grants.

*********************************************SPOKANE – The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Riverfront Park is set for restoration work thanks to generous contributions from the Our Town Gala and Spokane Civic Benefit Fund, Spokane County Veterans Services, and the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs.

Through the annual Our Town Gala hosted by Mayor David and Mrs. Kristin Condon $25,000 was raised to the Spokane Civic Benefit Fund held at Innovia with the express purpose of restoring the memorial. Additionally, the Washington State Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee awarded a $2,000 grant to Spokane County Veterans Services for restoration efforts. Spokane County Veterans Services will present a matching $2,000 check for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial restoration on Monday, November 25, 10:00 a.m. at their offices, 1117 N. Evergreen in Spokane Valley.

“This is an amazing collaborative effort between city, county, state, and private donors to honor our veterans with this gift to restore the Vietnam Veterans Memorial,” said Garrett Jones, Interim Parks and Recreation Director. “We’re so thankful to our partners for their work to raise funds and awareness for this important community asset.”

City of Spokane Parks & Recreation will be spearheading the restoration project, first gathering feedback from stakeholders to identify priorities and forming a long-term plan for future maintenance and accessibility. Restoration work is set to begin in 2020.
