Notice of Suspension of Volunteer Services at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery

Notice of Suspension of Volunteer Services at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery

WDVA and the Cemetery staff thank each of you for your selfless dedication to our mission and those we serve. The cemetery currently remains open for burials and visitation.

In light of the ongoing and rapidly changing environment, and out of an abundance of caution we are suspending all volunteer activities at the cemetery until further notice. This was a difficult decision to arrive at, but your safety and the safety of those we serve could not be compromised. We are working hard to adhere to state imposed gathering restrictions, which include limiting staff and volunteers.

In order to afford family members’ the highest priority to attend we will be conducting services with the minimum number of staff.

We look forward to getting beyond this situation, and welcoming you back to continue your services to our community.

You can expect to be notified through your coordinators, or individually for those not linked to a specific group once the decision is made to resume normal operations.

Please ensure each member of your volunteer group receives this so no one is inconvenienced.

Please direct questions to Cathy Herker, AA5 & Volunteer Coordinator Catherine.herker@dva.wa.gov or Rudy Lopez rudyl@dva.wa.gov.
