PROCLAMATION - First Responders' Day

WHEREAS, first responders, including career and volunteer, serve and ensure public safety and render aid to those in need; and

WHEREAS, first responders risk their lives and safety every day in the performance of their duties to protect Washingtonians; and

WHEREAS, law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical services personnel, search and rescue teams, rescue pilots and divers, emergency management
professionals, 911 dispatchers and members of other organizations in the public safety sector come together to protect and aid the public in the event of an emergency; and

WHEREAS, at a moment's notice, first responders are quick to respond to dangerous situations that threaten our cities, counties and state; and

WHEREAS, first responders must be ready to provide lifesaving services to the people of Washington, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, throughout the year; and

WHEREAS, first responders undergo significant education, specialized training and personal sacrifice to contribute their excellent and necessary skills to the public; and

WHEREAS, we recognize the integral role that first responders have in our communities and the benefits we experience thanks to their hard work, commitment, sacrifice and dedication;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Ferguson, governor of the state of Washington, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2025, as
First Responders' Day
in Washington, and I urge all people in our state to join me in this special observance.
