Message from the WDVA Director - WDVA Offering Free Technology for Veterans in Washington State

In today's world, it has become crucial for everyone to have access to technology, especially in rural areas, and we are making sure that no veteran and family member are left behind in our mission of Serving Those Who Served.

With help of a grant-funded program through the Washington State Department of Commerce, your WDVA has launched the WDVA Digital Navigator Program.

The WDVA Digital Navigator Program provides qualified veterans and their families the technological resources (a kit with talk, text, and data through T-Mobile, a laptop, and a smartphone with a hotspot) and training in digital literacy so they can easily connect to online appointments and to their earned benefits, including disability payments, pensions, healthcare assistance, online counseling sessions, and other services.

The program will focus on Veterans in underserved rural areas, elderly Veterans, Veterans of color, Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program Participants, and Veterans participating in higher education or apprenticeship. WDVA Digital Navigators will travel throughout Washington State to assist with intake forms, digital literacy, technical application skills training, and computer and cellphone setup support and enrollment in the Affordable Connectivity Program which will help to make sure veterans will remain connected even after their Digital Navigator Program service ends.

Every veteran or family member has specific needs, and this program will work with veterans or their families to provide the assistance needed based on their skill level, needs, and lifestyle.

With dozens of kits already distributed since the program’s launch, this partnership between the Department of Commerce and your WDVA is having a positive impact on the lives of veterans and their families.

Veterans who are connected to technology have better access to their earned benefits, and we want to ensure that ALL veterans have the resources, support, and training they need.
