Janelle Painter, PhD

Janelle Painter, PhD is a clinical psychologist in the Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center at the VA Puget Sound, Seattle with expertise in evidence-based practices for the treatment of serious mental illness. She earned her doctoral degree at the University of California, Berkeley, where she received specialized training in the treatment of people with psychotic and bipolar disorders. Her research and practice focus on identifying barriers to treatment and improving access to care among Veterans with chronic and complex mental health conditions. Dr. Painter is passionate about helping people with mental illness lead meaningful and fulfilling lives. She authored the self-help book, Bipolar Disorder: A Guide for the Newly Diagnosed.
