Veterans Farm at Orting

The Veterans Farm focuses on teaching veterans interested in agricultural industries how to thrive.

The Veterans Farm at Orting, is situated on the Soldiers Home campus as the base of Mount Rainer in the Orting Valley. Offering a place where veterans can lease fertile farm land, attend classes, volunteer and or generally support a growing community.

Veterans interested in leasing land at the Veterans farm pay an annual fee of only $50 which entitles Veterans to use the land as they see fit, which includes irrigation, greenhouse, and cold storage. These resources allow the production of row crops, orchards or even some small livestock farming. A healthy support system is also provided, such as classes, a tool library, composting, and a vast network of other resources.

As part of the Veteran’s Conservation Corps, small businesses can receive assistance with grants. Partnerships with Enterprise for Equity ( and Washington State University Cultivating Success ( provide added support to veterans seeking to start their own farming operation.
