December 14, 2024 09:00 - 10:30

Mount Angeles Memorial Park Cemetery, recognized as an official Wreaths Across America (WAA) site in partnership with the
Michael Trebert DAR Chapter, will host the only public ceremony in the region, joining over 4,800 other locations nationwide for
National Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
This event, organized by the Michael Trebert DAR Chapter 501 (c) (3), marks the fifth anniversary of live Remembrance balsam
wreath laying, featuring Teresa Bullock as the distinguished guest speaker. Bullock, a former U.S. Army soldier, currently serves at
Fort Irwin National Training Center in California and holds the positions of National Service Officer and Sergeant of Arms for the
American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. The public ceremony at the county's largest cemetery is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. The brief
program will include participation from The Trail Life Boys USA-Troop WA 2206 and American Heritage Girls WA troop 0610, as
well as the placement of eight ceremonial wreaths representing each branch of the military, along with a wreath for POW/MIA,
conducted by local veterans. The event will also feature an American Legion Post 29 Flag Line, a Marine Corps League Honor
Guard with rifles, a Riderless Horse Salute accompanied by drum cadence, Taps, and bagpipers.
The Michael Trebert DAR registered Wreaths Across America locations will host public wreath laying at the following sites and
times:
Mt. Angeles Memorial Park Cemetary @ 0930am
Sequim Dungeness @ 10 a.m.
Gardiner Community Cemetery @ 1 p.m.
Sequim View Cemetery @ 1 p.m.
Throughout the summer, the Michael Trebert DAR Chapter has been actively engaged in the preservation and cleaning of over
200 veteran markers in preparation for 2024. This year marks the fifth observance of Wreaths Across America on the peninsula.
While veterans are often honored on Memorial Day and Veterans Day, they may be overlooked during the holiday season. During
the ceremony, as each remembrance wreath is placed by attendees, the name of the veteran is stated out-loud, expressing
gratitude for their service. Wreaths Across America serves to honor their memory. Wreaths Across America serves as a poignant
reminder that a person dies twice: once at their final breath and again when their name is spoken for the last time. This annual
event seeks to further the ongoing mission to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach future generations.
